Sweetandy.net annual fundraiser! - August 31st 2010

Well it's about that time of year. To keep this server, its domains, and to get secure hosting with SSL/HTTPS support (both for visiting sweetandy.net and for my email stuff), I'm going to need some money. The fundraiser will last until mid-December, at which point the payments will be made.

Part of the mission of this site is that I don't want anybody but me paying a single cent for this site, so here is the current plan tor raise the $200 necessary to keep this site going another year:

Thanks for all your support! Nobody really visits this site anyway, but once I have to fork over some real cash for it, I expect that I'll really start using it hardcore.

Thaaat's right! No Dexter list yet! I have been working on a list of some of my favorite albums and their songs, formatted all nicely. Not finished yet. Also not finished is my anti-facebook rant, which is now available in an unfinished form in the sidebar under "don't use facebook!".

New site design, Dexter List coming soon! - π Day - 21:08 PST

You heard it, folks, and are seeing it now. There is a new design for the site, which implements generic OS-and-browser-specific "sans-serif" for the primary font. What this means for all you users is that this site will probably look wrong in your browser!! For best viewing, use Icecat on a free operating system—not that I'm biased or anything. At least until I get this mess with the font/CSS stuff worked out. Geez louise, fonts should be free.

I'm also announcing two new "features" for the site. One, I'll be using UTC for the timezones on updates. I've got people reading in Australia and New Zealand, so why not. Not fair to limit it to my own time zone. You'll probably notice that I didn't use UTC for this post. That's mostly so I could get away with using the HTML entity for pi (π), as it is no longer π day in UTC at this time. :( Might as well use 201003150408 while I'm at it, don't you think?

Second "feature" will be released soon. It will be a list, which I will update as I see fit, of people. I will call it my Dexter List. You can gather whatever you want from that.

Hey, sweetandy here! This site is more or less "complete" (as if it ever truly will be), so I've decided to take down my absolutely kick-ass animation of a shovel putting green goop in a box labeled "sweetandy.net". I'll leave that link there for posterity... and maybe a little prosperity, who knows?

The audio files (in .ogg format) on my music page are now embedded with either HTML5 or the Cortado java plugin (as a fallback in case you don't have a browser supporting HTML5), so now it is easier than ever to listen to my music! Enjoy, and keep checking back for updates of new music (if you think it's any good, that is).

Updated music page for free formats - February 3 - 01:31 PST

My music page now has embedded ogv files by means of Cortado, so the video is now non-flash and free.

Music page and new design - December 30 - 06:19 PST

I put a few MP3s/OGGs on the music page in the sidebar. I also embedded a few of my YouTube videos of me performing some of my songs. The biggest change, though, is that the site has a completely new look to it. It's a major improvement on the previous design. I'm glad I took the time and did it.

My blog is officially up at blog.sweetandy.net, and the link in the sidebar works now. It's my linux/free software blog. I'm working on putting up some code I've been working on, which will probably be up fairly soon.
